Look what we......

awoke to on Monday morning!!! Oh my!! almost 5 inches of snow! It is oh so pretty! But boy does our state(SC) ever "shut down" when it snows! I actually didn't even go out in it till today because of the ice......crutches + ice= disaster for me! My sweet husband got an extra long weekend so that was kinda nice. The next day they all went in late and one of the guys fell and broke 2 ribs. Needless to say I started a pot of homemade Chicken Noodle soup as soon as Brian left that day for work in hopes to cheer him up when he arrived home. He has taken some for lunch everyday since then.

I'll try to get more pictures of the snow up in my Flicker Album soon.

I've also got to upload a picture of my 1st finish for 2011. I started it in Nov. or was it Oct.? Anyway I'll need it to carry all of my "finished UFO's" to show at the quilt guild meeting.

We're actually meeting an extra time this month(this Sat.) to do some charity sewing.

In the meantime I've got to "catch up" on all my Aus. friends. Been praying for them daily. Such a sad thing for so many.

Peeking in to say "Hello"............I can hardly believe how long it has been since I've posted.....it is shameful. There have been so big changes in my life, and I just haven't taken the time to post like I should. I love blog-land, but I'm finding it hard to keep up with. I've been reading every "now and then" and then I start to feel guilty so I retreat again. I have lost track of too much here. I am going to try again for a bit and see if I can get back in the swing of it. I've reminded myself that I don't have to type a novel everytime I post....maybe that will help.
Oh the sewing/stitching subject.......hmmmmm.....well my quilt guild decided to issue a UFO challenge this year.....ha! My list is a sad sad sight to be sure. I quit writing after filling up about four pages 16 items on each page. What is it with me? I seem to get "distracted" by a new project before finishing the current one. This is a habit I must break! I'll try again this year to list my "finishes" on my side bar. I hope you will come back here and cheer me on. I'll need the encouragement!

gone already! Jeepers time sure does fly......my parents told me it would.

Well I'm almost finished with this quilt.....I know...I know....it is taking me FOREVER!! Didn't I tell you I work slow? It is really so cute. It is quilted now and has the prairie points on it. No pictures of that yet. I just have to press the bias binding(1st time to do that!), and then attatch it to the quilt.....oh....and then there is the lable that has to be done. I just cut my finger fixing my dinner so I guess I'll wait till tomorrow to work on it more......Sure don't want to get any blood on it. My finger sure is sore too.
I have finished other things since beginning this quilt......I'll try to upload more pictures to my Flicker album.
Now I need to catch up on reading my favorite blogs.........

I can't seem to do it all!!! Anyhoooooo...........

I have about 10 more but life keeps getting in the way of my stitching time!

I've also finished a few baby gifts.....maybe I'll show you when I can find the card to load them on the computer ;>
Yep.........pretty sure I know where the card is....it's just taking the time to do it. Part of this was done at my friend Carly's house(remember that trip?)........We got alot done but we chatted more than stitched.....imaging that! lol I'll be going back soon as most of the quilt is on her design wall(good excuse to go back) BTW..........she likes to pamper me........Jerry(her man) is one lucky fellow!

I do have something else that has slowed my stitching time......I had to take a Continuing Education class to keep my OTR/L license(sp?...I'm tired) current.....and I've been thinking of going back to work on a PRN(as needed) basis. Just say a prayer I hear and listen/obey God's plan. Usually he has to knock me up-side the head for me to get it right. More on the job later(maybe...)

BTW...........paying attention in class today was extra hard as a sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet dear friend of mine, Camille, was having surgery. I wish you all could meet her. She is a doll and so talented. Please pray for complete healing and recovery.

consuming my attention for a bit!! But now they are all home and I'm trying to get back into my sewing. Jennifer(right) was here all last week, and Makayla(left) was just here for a day. We stayed very busy!! They just grow up way too fast. I let Jennifer borrow #1 in my Trixie Belden book series to read and now she is hooked!! She took #2 home with her too as she was almost finished with the 1st one when she left. My sisters and I read Trixie books when we were kids. Loved them!! I need to find more of them.

If everything goes as I hope I'll be going to Sumter, SC on Sunday to spend a couple of days sewing with my friend Carly. I'm "sew" excited to get away........even if it is only 1 hr. away from home. I'm going to try to get some of my stitchery stuff together to take too.

I'm having withdrawls(sp?) as I haven't had a chance to read my bloggy news from you all......maybe tonight.......now I think I'm going to go get some more pillow slips done.

of a time it's been.......I'll never be able to tell you everything that has been going on........I really wanted to post before now too but not a chance!
I've had this lil' cutie Jessica( the girl) visiting for a couple of days..........actually Butters(the pup) was visiting that day too....Tomorrow I leave to drive to Ga. to pick up my other niece Jennifer(pictures to follow I'm sure) for the week next week.
She is going to have to help me finish these little projects as I have 2 baby showers next week!

Man!! This getting pictures and the words on the page like I want them is a pain!! Surely there is an easier way!!

I've still got to get a couple of burp cloths stitched up too.....sometime. I've decided the quilt will be a gift for the NEXT shower I go to for Cillie's baby Riley.

The 2nd shower popped up unexpectedly as my friends have been trying to adopt.......well let's just say since the 1st family fell through, Karen and Tony were more than willing to take sweet little AJ home with them. It really all happened so fast! They have been real blessed with gifts and such since it all happened. I get to hold him Thursday night........think they'll notice if I sneak him out in my bag?? 8D

Okay.......I really need to go get some shut-eye.

busy I haven't had a chance to blog. I've been peeking in to check on you all briefly, but haven't taken the time to post as I've been working under a deadline.......a deadline imposed by me that I think I have decided to IGNORE now!! I want to enjoy this sewing journey......I tend to pray alot for the reciepient when I stitch and I just can't do a good job if I hurry.

I'm not real great at getting these little points just right and I'm a bit weary of "unsewing" a couple of them, but this one looks the best so far. And it is the right size!! Yipeeeeeee!

I saw it an a quilt shop and knew it would be perfect for one of my best friends new grandson......I'm going to stitch his name (Riley) on one of the boats. I've also been dreaming about what sort of lable to put on the back......Please feel free to send me your ideas.....I want it to be something besides a retangle with words........

Our last name is Foster.......my friends joke and call us the "Foster Home" because we are always taking someone in needing help.............
So we have a new resident again.........the last one was here about 3 weeks this past May........hummmmmmmm......
Really it's not that bad....I just have to remember to wear my robe in the mornings! Anyway.....say a prayer for this young man......he is a dear and has no family for support(parents are deceased).....He and my son Anthony are good friends and thinking of "rooming" together, but it just hasn't worked out yet.

Remember this??

Well the winner was me!!!!! Yep!! Well Allie had to call me on the phone......She was all giddy and gigglie......She said "Go look at Jenny's blog".....so of course I went right away!! Well low and behold!!!! Lookie!! I can't tell you how very THRILLED I was and still am.......I've been trying to get my pictures sorted out so I could tell you all about it.....but I seem to have lost those pictures for a second time(you know I'm new with the picture thing remember).......So I gave up and swiped a copy of Jenny's picture, because it has been way too long and I'm OVERDO in time in my announcement. I did email my dear sweet Jenny right away though to thank her!!! I was amazed @ how fast the package arrived.

Yes!! Another post!! Already!!!!!!

Well I intended to post last night, but I fell asleep.....I was working on my pants pattern after dinner......got a little sleepy 'bout 8:30pm so went to my bedroom and decided to shut my eyes for a few minutes. Well around 12am my dear sweet husband came in and said "Why don't you get under the covers?

Anyhoooooo...........so here I am

again now........so look at this picture!

Makayla(my niece) came to see me on my birthday. She and my husband Brian are hams when it comes to pictures. She is such a doll.

Now I know I told you the other day that I received some more great pressies.......but I've still got to get the pictures sorted out. Remember.....I'm new @ this picture thing still.

Oh! And do you remember?....I won a "giveaway" recently. Boy oh boy was that ever a THRILL! Did you get that? A THRILL!! I mean to tell you I was THRILLED. More to come on that in another post.

Look What I got my for my Birthday!!!!!

My dear sweeeeeeeestest husband granted my long awaited wish!!! Isn't he such a darling!??? You know I've mentioned how hard it has been to get pictures posted. Well the only excuse I have now is I still have a bit to learn about the camera and software, but I think I'm on my way!! I really hope to post more often now......I know, I know.....I've said that before ;O

And I have more news.......but you'll have to wait.....ok?....I'll give you a hint.......I got a REAL special prize in the mail a few days ago, but of course I haven't posted about it because I had no way to show you!!! Ha! Now I do!! Yep! I'm happy dancin' here......more on that in another post.

I can't explain my absence......I have missed you all......actually I have been peeking in and lurking a little.......I've had to check and see what you were doing.

I think I've become frustrated with Blogging because I want to post pictures and have minimal access to a digital camera.....figured you'd find my blog "boring" if I have so few to share.

Anyhoooooo........For late Feb. and early March I worked on a project for our Regional ASG meeting that was here in town. Have you checked out ASG?
http://www.asg.org/ I am a member and a Neighborhood Group leader and that little endeavor has kept me busy and having fun. Our group is called the Moonlight Stitchers since alot of the members work during the day and sew at night. Ah!!! I just thought.....I think I have a picture of the "nametag" we designed. They are supposed to be designed like a chatalaine.

Actually I have finished a couple of things, but I can't find the pictures. I'll have to get Brian to re-take them for me......

I might try to start a list in my side-bar of "2010 Finishes".....Maybe it will keep my motivation up. I did hit a roadblock on one of my quilts though, and it has really put me in a downward tailspin. I'll go to the quilt shop on Wed. to get some help. In the meantime I'm also working on some clothes for the children in Haiti. It is so heartbreaking what they are all going through. I actually have too many projects going right now.(what's new huh?)

I'll try to post again before I leave(I hope) on Thurs......I'm going back down to Ga. to visit my family. I haven't been since Christmas.

Oh Yeah!

Today is actually Jessica's nineth birthday.........

BTW, please say a prayer for her family......her mom and dad are now un-employed.......and in the middle of a D#@*#!@....... Tracie and Jessica might have to move out of their APT. as Tracie just doesn't have the rent for Feb. 1st ........TMI? Sorry.......

I wanted to pop in and say "Hello".....I hope you all have had a wonderful Holiday season. I was way busier than I had hoped and only peaked in a few times to make sure you all were still here......I've missed "blog-land". I sure hope to be more active here now that the rush is over.
I wanted to show you the cutest pillow cases I made for the girls, but I can't find the pictures. The picture above is of the top of my 5 drawer antique spool cabinet with a stash of stuff on it.

I can't help but wonder if there isn't an easier way to post these pictures so please bear with me....This is a machine embroidery design I made into a stuffed ornament. I love Ginger's designs from Gone Sewing......You should check it out here. I added some bling with my crystals and mini-clover iron.

I've been doing lots of other stuff too........mater-of-fact I need to get some embroidery done on some towels I promised my aunt. Yesterday a couple of us from my ASG group went over to 1 members house for a sit-n-sew.........well that was a joke......it turned out to be a trace pattern, cutting out and fusing pieces session.......there was not a chance to turn the machines on even....We working on the Birdie Sling by Amy Butler.

off!! Don't ya' just love my Hug swap items!! Oh so pretty!! The ribbon is wrinkled because I've been using it. This is my mug mat and hug mug wrap gift from Laura. She lives in the UK. Gosh it's pretty! Both of ours took awhile to get to their destination but mine was OH so worth the wait!!

Oh! BTW........ have you wondered where I've been?.......lost in "computer crash land"...I still don't exactly know what happened or how it fixed itself.....computer tech guy couldn't find a problem. I was soooooooooooooooooo out of sorts....you just don't know. I had to call Allie a few times just so I could check on you all. I've missed so much.
You can bet I've already been to Among The Gum Trees to get my designs. I'd have gone nuts if I didn't have some of those designs traced out to stitch already.

Well what else? Hmmmmmmm......

I took a friend that is new to quilting to Mary Jo's last Friday.....Oh my! She went nuts.....I should have taken a picture of the LOAD in the back of her vehicle! Can you believe I only purchased some fuseable interfacing? Well I had budgeted my $$ for a new thimble from http://www.thimblesplus.com/index.php?id=1365&page=home They came to my quilt guild meeting the next day so I had to save my $$. I got the Lacey Heart one.......you might be able to find it on the page.....I'm so in love with it, but I am soooooooooooo broke ;P

What else??......

Today I made a top for a fall table runner and liked it so well I cut out 3 more......THEN I put one together.... .well...... let's just say I've never done this before....the 2 sides of the runner have the edges of the strips on the sides so it sorta looks like prairie points along the edge/sides.....Well my inside points don't look to good :o( I did clip them.....
Not sure what to do now....I'll get someone to look at it before I bother to make the others.

I'm getting tired now, so I'll either go TRY to catch up on "blog-land", stitch my puddin' mouse, or knit!!

My latest little things I've made......In the hoop Eyeglass cases from www.myembroideryhaven.com I'm making up a bunch of these for the Hands Of Love project some of us are doing from the MEH forum.....a gift project to support military family members. They get gone as fast as I can make them.....I have some aprons I want to get done too with a Sampler design from www.heartstringsembroidery.com .

Not alot going on here......I'm having trouble getting settled and motivated on a project....I changed some of the furniture around in my sewing room which always stimulates me a little. Now I feel like I've got to decide how to handle Christmas this year. I think it will be cards and ornaments this year.....still have to think on it.....

I want to smock a dress for this lil' darlin' if I can......

Dh and I tried to go see her the other evening, but she had a fever and wasn't feeling well. I sure hope she doesn't have the flu!!

Another antique....

this is one of my favorite antiques in my house.....it's a middle to late 1800's Pie/Bakers Rack if I remember correctly. I have books and fabric stored inside.....the little crochet bag in the front holds an antique tape measure with kittens on it. I just love it.

I've been staying away from my computer as everything electrical or mechanical is failing me. My son's car died, my heat is out and winter is coming, my dryer died and Fri. evening my "check engine" light in my van came on and Dh's van is sputtering.......dare I turn a sewing machine on now? No....I cannot take credit for this.....I'm not nearly that good at sewing......yet! I'll die trying though! These are 2 vintage dresses that I own.....from different auctions/estate sales. Every now and then I'll start posting pictures of some of my "finds"....I have alot of this kind of stuff and I'm getting tired of cleaning all of it. For a long while I was bad about buying it and not cleaning it right away(aside for checking for bugs). I've sold alot of stuff along the way....which was usually what was washed.

My Dh walked around my sewing room the other day and took pictures.....in the closets, drawers...everywhere! Allie of http://allie-oopssweethappylife.blogspot.com/will be so happy and bugging me to post everyday till she sees it all!!

Jeepers!! It's October already....

Wow!! My parents were right.....they said the older you get the faster time goes!! I wasn't so sure about that but I am convinced now. I really love the change in weather.....I breathe so much easier when it is cooler.

I'm still waiting on their new disigns since they started their collaboration.

A friend of our needs our help, prayers and support...... Terry's husband [from Terry's Treasures] had an accident at work and the family is facing some difficult adjustments in their future - a long and stressful recovery after surgery is just the 1st part. Laurie from A Yankee Quilter is organizing a block party to make a quilt for the family. She's looking for 9 1/2" blocks from quilters, and will enter your name into a draw for a jelly roll. 1st ..... I really want you to pray for Terry as she and her family really need our support and prayers. I'm hoping she will call me, and I will ask about giving updates if she wants me to. They are really going to go through alot of changes in their lives....but God is so good and He will sustain them and use them all in great ways......I have every bit of faith in His works.

much fun.....and I have no pitures yet to show you.....I'm sorry.....I went to Gastonia, NC today to meet up with a friend of mine down from NH....She just HAD to go to Mary-Jo's since she was this close!! We had a great lunch and then some shopping...I got some muslin and a few yards of different colors of Fariy Frost fabrics....yummy colors too. I'll try to get pictures up when I get back....

Back? back from where you ask? I'm driving down to Ga. to visit my family for the weekend.....haven't been all summer. I'm hoping to post my Hug Swap before I leave....Laura and I have already figured out it will be awhile till either of us gets ours because of the distance, but we're okay with that. She won't even be back to the address I have for her til mid- Oct. It gives us something both to look forward to.....

Now let's see....what else can I tell you about......Why was I MIA for so long? I had unexpected company(his name is CR) for a loooooooooooooooong time. I'm just starting to get back in my groove and he will be back again soon!! But only for 1 night I think.....He'll be back on his way home to KY....... really he is never any trouble and we adore him. But my Dh and I laugh everytime he calls to come visit because we know he is already on his way and he always wants to eat out when he is here and we just can't afford it. I wouldn't and trade him in though, because he is a great fellow and I know he'd be right here in a jiffy if I needed him. We met way back when I was in college and have kept in touch all these years.

What am I working on? Well mostly my Hug Swap and some knitting for the Holidays.......then I have a few things I have to hem for myself.......I have a Stitchery from Wollowberry Designs that I'm dying to start on, and I have my Christmas fabrics for my designs for Jenny of Elefantz .... I love those Christmas trees of hers!

I'm also thinking about Christmas gifts to make....... not everyone I know likes handmade things....I need to make a list.....honestly my sisters are my very favorite people to give to @ Christmas but the last few years we forgo giving to each other so we can give to someome else.....I like to give their girls something too but often have a hard time thinking of a "special gift" that will be meaningful and remembered.....I usually give the girls 3 gifts like how the Wisemen each gave Jesus a gift....okay...I'm rambling.....

So what are you all doing for Christmas gifts?

BTW, I do have to tell you.....today is the 2 year anniversary of losing my mom.....so getting thru today has been tough so far.........maybe one day I will tell you about how I ended up with 2 moms.....but this is the one that raised me......I learned to sew by peeking over her shoulder. She was my female version of my soulmate.......shortly after she died I realized that I had done alot to grow up to be a bit like her......she was a homemaker, she sewed, put veggies up in the summer for her family, kept a spotless house(I'm still working on this one), was always there when someone needed something, loved her family fiercely, had more stamina and endurance than you can imagine. I still can't cook like her though.....my Dh says I can pack a house, cabinet or a suitcase just as well as mama.....She never got to see my sewing room, and I'm always catching myself wishing I could show her my latest project. I'll love that dear, sweet woman dearly til the day I die.

This is my youngest sister Tracie's daughter, Jessica(now 8 ys/o)......the pic is about 2 yrs old but I just love this one of her.....She was modeling this dress I had made for her, but it was a bit big! She is the "girly girl" of my nieces so far.....she is quite the sassy little one!

This is Jessie in my sewing room around the same time......she had just discovered Barbie.com on the computer!! She doesn't have a computer at her house....even yet! So now she likes to visit me mostly for PC time not "aunt Terri" time! She looks just like her mom at any age you pick along the timeline.

I didn't spend much time in the sewing room today.....it was just too nice outside to stay in. I'll probably get some stuff together to take outside to stitch tomorrow if it is nice out again. My Dh is a "work-aholic" (sp?) and not a holiday person so we don't have any special plans for Labor Day tomorrow.

I might venture out tomorrow to get another pen for tracing stitcheries......I've got 3 here that have dry nibs but ink in them.....any suggesstions on how to get them to work?

girl......This is Jennifer....She is this month's birthday(8/10th) girl in my family.....She is my oldest sisters daughter. I can't tell you the joy I experienced when my sister told me she was having this child. I adore Jennifer. When Debra was still carrying Jen and Jenn would hear my voice she would just dance up a storm in Deb's tummy. You could really see her moving around! I wish she would get her hair cut like this again.

I know I've been remiss in posting......I can't even tell you what I've been doing.....but I did have to spend the day yesterday with my right hand bandaged in an Ace bandage....too much stitching and knitting I suppose.....Of course last night while watching football with Dh I was able to stitch up some yo-yo's with out much strain on my wrist!

I have ALOT of blogs to catch up on....maybe later today.....but I need to get to the kitchen now and finally get my chicken in the crock-pot.

making lately. I'm not sure you can see these very well. The long denim blue beads are stitched together in the peytoe stitch and made into cylinders and then strung with other beads to make a bracelet and earring set. It definitely takes time and patience to do......Wait till you see the next project like this one.....I'll probably show you a bit at a time because it will take awhile to finish. ;P

Oh! And I will have more news for tomorrow!! I'm tickled pink!

Look what I got!! Terry of terrytreasures, sent me the sweetest little gift. I just love it all. Thank you Terry....I know I'm going to enjoy dreaming up how I will use these little treasures.
I had a dickens of a time taking pictures today....I was almost in tears so my dearest, beloved husband, Brian, took some for me.....Now I'll have pictures for a few more posts ;P
I'll probably post them one day at a time as he is not likely to want to come to my rescue too often. Maybe at some point I will get a camera I can manage on my own. I really want to "stage" some pretty pictures sometime for my blog.

This is Lacy....my one remaining kitty....she looks less than thrilled doesn't she? She is missing Squealer alot, but we have been trying to give her more attention since he disappeared. I named her Lacy because when she was a kitten, her markings were more distinguished and she looked to have a "lace" pattern on her body....plus....I'm all about lace. She used to lay across my chest while I sat. in the rocking chair to do hand work.

Today, one of my sewing friends came over for a "Sit-n-Sew".....we worked on some charity projects....I have 2 more friends coming over tomorrow to do the same. In the meantime, I think I will take a break from the Charity sewing and work on some beading or stitchery....I have so much I want to do!

Okay...I know it's not a great picture but aren't these cute? My evening ASG group the "Moonlight Stitchers" got together last night and we made purses out of Santa Hats/Elf Hats.... We used Christmas themed fabrics for the lining and straps. We are donating these purses to raise money for our ASG chapter. Last night we also dived up some fabric donated from my stash to do some other sewing projects for different Charity projects we're involved in. I even put out a challenge to my group.....I will have my sewing room available 2 different weekends this month for any of them to come over and they can make Charity projects in a "Sit-n_Sew" style environment.....I have 2 ladies coming Sat. and 2 ladies on Sun......my husband is such a good fellow for putting up with this! ;P
Hmmmmm....what else? Oh! I finished making my peyote beads for my bracelet. Thurs. morning my morning ASG group the "Rockin Bobbins" are going back to "Nuff Stuff" (local bead shop) to finish our beaded bracelets. Then hopefully Friday I can rest up for my marathon "Sit-n-Sew" weekend.

Whew!! A busy weekend!!

Let's see......Sat. I went to my knitting group.....we always have so much fun. We're always laughing....and usually eating too. This group of people always cheer me up if I need it.
Then today, I actually roped my Dh( Brian) into helping me purge/re-organize some in my sewing room. Boy that felt good! Still have more to do but made some progress.
Tomorrow I have to go to Aiken SC (1.5hr. away) for a CAB meeting for the American Sewing Guild since I'm a Neighborhood Group(NG) Leader and THEN I have NG meeting at 6:30 pm to do a Sit-n-Sew....I'll be dead by bedtime.....
And to top it off tomorrow is my oldest niece, Jennifer's birthday....she will be 10! I can hardly believe it.....I adore this child....how could I not when she sees me through a window when I arrive and she starts clapping and jumping up and down. All of my nieces are special to me in one way or another....Jennifer was the 1st. one and I thought going to be the only one. She was a loooooooooooong time in coming. My sister and I kept saying "think pink" because we wanted a girl so bad. I'll try to post a picture of her tomorrow.....If I'm still alive after everything I'll be doing.
Now I need to go get some shut-eye......;P

people.....My son Anthony and my niece Makayla....he is 20 and she is 2.....Makayla says Anthonthy is her "brother"! Boy will she "correct" you if you say otherwise.....They were having a fun day at my MILs house.
Not really much to tell you this evening....I just wanted to post so I can practice and get into a habit here! lol......

I wanted to thank my visitors for coming by to visit my new blog. I hope to add some info to my profile soon. In the meantime, I'll just tell you that I love to sew, do most any embroidery, especially Stitcheries. I also love antiques, vintage textiles, art work and books. Alot of my stash comes from auctions, yard sales and thrift stores. I'll have to take some pictures of my "finds" and my sewing room.
I'm hoping that this blog will be a vehicle to encourage me to do more of what I love and not distract me. That is where you come in.....any volunteers to be cheerleaders? I dream up big ideas, but my fear of messing up a piece of fabric or lace impeads my ability to get started.
okay....I'm off again to see what else I can get into......I think I really want to get out of the house...........now I'm just going to hit the "publish post" button and hope for the best!! (big grin and crossed eyes!)
